DYMO Printer Troubleshooting

DYMO is one of the most popular thermal label printers used with BarcodeMan. This guide covers common issues and how to fix them.

Before You Start

Make sure:

  • Your DYMO printer driver is installed correctly
  • The printer resolution is 300 dpi or higher
  • You are using a supported DYMO model (LabelWriter 450, 550, etc.)

Note: Some older DYMO models (e.g., LabelWriter 310, 320) may have lower resolution and produce blurry output.

Common Issues

Labels print too small

Cause: The paper size in your browser’s print dialog does not match your actual label size.

Fix:

  1. Open your label template in BarcodeMan
  2. Note the template dimensions (e.g., 57mm × 32mm)
  3. When printing, in the browser print dialog:
    1. Set Paper Size to match your label (e.g., “30336 - Small Address” for 57mm × 32mm)
    2. Set Scale to 100%
    3. Set Margins to None
  4. If your label size doesn’t appear in the paper size list, you need to install/reinstall the DYMO driver. See Customized Paper Size in Printer Dialog .

Labels print in wrong orientation (rotated 90°)

Cause: The printer or browser is rotating the output.

Fix:

  1. In the browser print dialog, check the Orientation setting
  2. Try switching between Portrait and Landscape
  3. If using Chrome on Mac, go to More Settings and check the Layout option
  4. Some DYMO models have an orientation setting in the printer properties — set it to None (similar to the Zebra orientation fix )

Labels are blurry

Cause: Low DPI or incorrect driver settings.

Fix:

  1. Make sure your DYMO model supports 300 dpi (check the spec sheet)
  2. Reinstall the latest DYMO driver from dymo.com/support
  3. In BarcodeMan Settings, set the quality to High
  4. If the issue persists, refer to our Low-Quality Printing Results guide

Label size not available in print dialog

Cause: The DYMO driver is not installed or not configured correctly.

Fix:

  1. Download and install the latest DYMO driver from dymo.com/support
  2. Restart your computer after installation
  3. The DYMO label sizes should now appear in your print dialog
  4. If they still don’t appear, you can add a custom paper size. See our guide: Customized Paper Size in Printer Dialog

Printing offset / misaligned

Cause: The template dimensions don’t exactly match the physical label.

Fix:

  1. Measure your actual label with a ruler (width × height in mm)
  2. Update your BarcodeMan template to match exactly
  3. Set Scale to 100% in the print dialog
  4. Fine-tune the margins by ±0.25mm if needed
  5. For more details, see Print Cut-Off and Alignment Problems

Still Having Issues?

If none of the above solutions work:

  1. Try a different browser (Chrome is recommended)
