SKU and Barcode Generator

What it does

The SKU Generator helps you create SKU or barcode values for products that don’t have them. Many products in Shopify are missing SKU or barcode data. Without these values, your labels may show blank fields.

How to use it

1. Go to Product label from the left sidebar.
2. Add products to your printing queue.
3. If some products are missing SKU or barcode values, you will see a prompt or can click the SKU generator option.
4. Choose one of the following options:
   • Generate 13-digit number — Creates a unique 13-digit sequential number for each variant
   • Generate 8-digit number — Creates a unique 8-digit sequential number for each variant
   • Sync barcode → SKU — Copies the existing barcode value to the SKU field
   • Sync SKU → barcode — Copies the existing SKU value to the barcode field

Good to know

• The generator does not overwrite existing values. If a variant already has a SKU or barcode, it will be skipped.
• Generated values are saved back to your Shopify store.
• Both Free and Starter plans include the SKU generator.
• The sync options are useful when you have data in one field but not the other. For example, if all your products have barcodes but no SKUs, use “Sync barcode → SKU”.
• If you need to change a value that was already set, you must update it manually in Shopify admin.
