How printing works

Compare the new generation dialog and old Generate labels menu, including PDF download, browser printing, skipped sheet positions, and queue clearing.

After selecting products or orders and a matching template, generate the label PDF. The controls differ between interfaces.

Generate, print, or download

Which screen do you see?

Choose the description that matches your app to see its steps.

New interface

  1. Review your selection and quantities, then click Generate [N] labels.
  2. For a sheet template, set Number of labels to skip if you are reusing a partially used sheet. Leave it at 0 for a fresh sheet.
  3. If shown, select Clean the printing queue after printing when you want the selection removed after successful delivery.
  4. Choose Download to save the PDF, or Print All to open browser printing.
  5. Wait for generation. If the PDF is ready but automatic printing does not open, use Download PDF in the result dialog. If offered, Try automatic printing again retries delivery of that PDF.

If Cloud Print is connected and shows Print to, select the printer and its paper size, then click Print. Open Need a PDF? for Download or Print in browser in the same dialog. See Cloud Print Setup for that workflow.

Earlier interface

  1. Review the imported table and select a template under 1. Choose template.
  2. Open Generate labels (the product page also shows the label count).
  3. Choose Print all for browser printing or Download to save a PDF. Edit before print opens the design before generating.
  4. For sheet templates, a separate Labels to skip dialog appears. Enter 0 for a fresh sheet or the number of used positions, then click Set.
  5. Wait for the PDF to generate and open or download.

This interface does not have the new print dialog’s queue-cleaning checkbox. Use Clear all in the table when you have finished with the imported items.

Reuse a partially printed sheet

Skipping 3 labels leaves the first three positions blank and starts at position 4. This option is for sheet templates; it does not calibrate a thermal printer or fix extra label feeding.

If the PDF does not appear

First check whether the app reports a generation error or whether the PDF is ready but browser delivery failed. Follow Pop-up Blocking When Printing for a ready PDF that will not open, or PDF generation timed out for a generation failure.
