Troubleshooting

Thermal Printer Feeds Blank Labels Before Printing

Your thermal label printer outputs one or more blank labels before the actual print. Two root causes — paper sensor malfunction or unsupported label paper — and how to diagnose each.

Verified

If your printer always prints one or more blank labels before the actual PDF, the issue is almost always one of these two causes:

Printer output showing several blank labels fed before the actual label design prints

Cause 1: Paper sensor malfunction

The printer can’t detect where one label ends and the next begins, so it ejects blank labels trying to find the gap.

This is a firmware/hardware issue — best handled by your printer manufacturer’s support. There’s nothing to fix inside BarcodeMan.

Cause 2: Unsupported label paper

Some printer drivers don’t support printing PDF format on specific label models. For example, the ZEBRA 2.2” × 0.5” 8000T JEWELRY LABEL is unsupported.

To confirm: try printing a standard label size (e.g., 4” × 6”) on the same printer. If the standard size works fine, the issue is with the specific label model, not BarcodeMan.
