Product description: Crop Text

Use Crop Text to print part of a product description. Enter words or phrases from the description in Start With and End At. You can leave either field empty.

How to crop

The workflow is the same in both editors. The new editor labels the fields Start With and End At; the legacy editor uses Start with and End at.

1. Select a Text element in the template editor.
2. Set Link To → PRODUCT_DESCRIPTION.
3. Under Crop Text, enter a starting marker in Start With. To stop at another marker, enter it in End At. Leave End At empty to keep the remaining description.
4. Save the template and generate a label with real product data. Check that it contains the portion you intended.

Examples

The first two results include the space before cotton. With End At empty, cropping continues to the end of the description; it does not stop at the next line or sentence.

Tips

• Product descriptions are converted from HTML to plain text before cropping. Match the visible description text rather than HTML tags.
• Matching is case-sensitive. Choose markers that appear once and in the expected order. Missing or repeated markers can produce an empty or unexpected result.
• A starting marker at the very beginning of the description can remain in the output. For example, Start With = Details: with End At empty can return the full example above. Check the generated PDF, especially when moving a template between versions.
• If the selected text is too long for its box, choose a shorter section, enlarge the box, or reduce the font size.
