Product label printing

The selection steps below describe BarcodeMan in Shopify.

Product labels use product and variant data such as name, price, barcode, and SKU. Choose a product label template before generating labels.

You can also print labels from Shopify admin using the Print label action on products or variants.

1. Open Product labels, then the Product selection tab.
2. In All products, search or filter your catalog. Expand a product to select individual variants, or check the product to select its variants. Checking a box adds the selection directly to Ready to print; there is no separate Add step in this view.
3. Open Ready to print to review the complete selection. Changing a search or page in All products does not clear it.
4. Check each row’s print quantity. Catalog selections initially use positive inventory quantity, or 1 when inventory is zero or negative. Use Change quantity to update the whole selection, or edit a row for a different count.
5. Choose a product template in Select a template. Use Template Design to inspect the design.
6. Click Generate [N] labels and follow How printing works.

For other sources, open Select: From orders, From draft orders, From transfers, From inventory changes, Upload CSV…, or Upload PO PDF…. Imported variants join Ready to print. This selection holds up to 300 distinct variants; print and remove a batch before adding more.

From orders and From draft orders use customer sales orders. For supplier purchase orders, follow the source-specific instructions below.

The bottom action bar includes Clear all, Assign… (barcodes and SKUs), and Change quantity. On smaller screens, open More actions to find these controls.

Earlier interface

1. Open Product labels.
2. In 1. Choose template, select a product label template.
3. Under 2. import products, open Import → Products.
4. In Import by products, search or filter the catalog, select products or variants, then click Add.
5. Review the table and edit its Quantity cells, or use Set quantity to update every row.
6. Open Generate [N] labels → Print all or Download. For sheet templates, complete Labels to skip and click Set.

The earlier Import menu includes Orders, Inventory transfers, Purchase orders, Shopify CSV, and Lightning Inventory CSV. Purchase orders under the Barcode Man group imports BarcodeMan’s own purchase orders. Stocky CSV may also appear in older screens, but the Stocky integration is no longer supported.

Use Generate labels → Edit before print if you need to inspect or adjust the template before printing. Assign → assign Barcodes & SKUs changes product barcode/SKU data; it is not the template selector.

Shopify purchase orders and inventory transfers

Shopify’s native purchase orders live under Products → Purchase orders in Shopify admin. BarcodeMan’s current Select menu imports inventory transfers, including transfers created from those purchase orders. It does not list Shopify-native purchase orders directly.

If your purchase order already has a linked transfer, use that transfer. Otherwise, Shopify lets you create one after marking the purchase order Ordered. See Shopify’s instructions for creating a transfer from a purchase order.

In the current BarcodeMan interface:

1. Open Product labels → Product selection → Select → From transfers.
2. Search for the transfer name, such as #T0012, and select the transfer.
3. Under Print quantity, choose All quantities for the transfer’s total line-item quantities, or Received quantities for units accepted across all its shipments. Received quantities exclude rejected and unreceived units; variants with no accepted units are not added.
4. Click Add, then review the variants and quantities in Ready to print.

If Received quantities asks for updated app permissions, approve them and try again. All quantities remains available while that permission is missing.

Shopify lets you edit a linked transfer independently of its purchase order, so their items and quantities can differ. Check the transfer before importing. Received quantities is the total accepted so far, not just the latest delivery. In the current queue, importing a variant already in Ready to print adds to its existing quantity.

Upload a purchase order PDF

For a file-based import in the current interface, open Select → Upload PO PDF… → Choose PDF file. You can download a Shopify purchase order from More actions → Export PDF, as described in Shopify’s purchase order guide.

BarcodeMan reads the file’s SKUs or barcode values, matches them to variants in your store, and uses the quantities extracted from the PDF. This upload does not connect to Shopify’s purchase-order records or track receiving progress.

Use a text-based PDF; scanned or image-only PDFs are unsupported. Review warnings and unmatched items before clicking Add [N] to queue. Unmatched items are skipped, and a large file may show a warning that some items could not be read. Check the resulting quantities in Ready to print against the PDF before generating labels. A supplier’s SKU must match a SKU or barcode in your store to be found.

BarcodeMan purchase orders

BarcodeMan’s own purchase orders are separate from Shopify-native purchase orders and Stocky purchase orders.

In the earlier interface, use Product labels → Import → Purchase orders under Barcode Man. Select the orders, choose ordered or received quantities, and click Add.

The current app retains Purchase orders on the home page for stores with existing BarcodeMan purchase-order history. Open that page, select the orders, and use Print from purchase orders. Set Quantity source to Ordered or Received, then click Add [N] selected to print queue. The import uses quantities saved on those BarcodeMan orders and current Shopify SKU and barcode values. Unavailable variants are skipped; review Ready to print before generating.

Before generating

• A product with several variants can produce several different labels. Review both the selected variants and their quantities.
• The generated label total is the sum of the row quantities. At least one row must have a quantity above zero.
• If data is blank, check the product data and the template’s linked fields. See Link to Data.
